The FlockThe Ortum flock was formed from a nucleus of 10 animals bought at the dispersal of the well known Langton flock in 1978. Through only careful purchasing of a small number of females and selective purchasing of rams with good conformation and performance figures in the early years we built the flock to approximately 200 females. However, due to reorganisation, the flock was reduced to 75 ewes. With the scaling down and the selection for figures and conformation the results were that we had the top flock in 2007 with 33 ram lambs in the top 1% (102 lambs in total) of the recorded rams of the year.
